For club owners, it's as busy as New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day

Any club owner will tell you that Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest of the year. It ranks right up there with New Year’s and St. Patrick’s Day in terms of revenue and revelry.

The clubs are packed with Black Friday shoppers, Homecoming heroes, and high school reunion holdovers.

It’s also a great time to check out a local band as many local groups past and present use the weekend as a chance to fire up the old fan base.

One of the area’s very best guitarists, Chris Piquette, will bring his Chris Piquette Band to the Southwick Inn on College Highway on Friday night. The band hits the stage at 10 p.m. for what will be the group’s last show of 2011.

Local musician Matthew Szlachetka brings his California-based The Northstar Session to Southwick to play the Skybox on Friday, Nov. 25.

Thirty Stones reunites for a show at Maximum Capacity in Chicopee on Friday night. The performance begins at 10 p.m.

Trailer Park gets the band back together for a show at The Basement on Center Street in Northampton on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Big Ugly Wrench holds their “Reunion of Immeasurable Proportions” on Saturday at The Elevens in Northampton. The show is being referred to as “one-time reunion” of the Valley’s late 90s rock outfit.

Theodores’ on Worthington in Springfield has popular local band Maxxtone performing on Friday night and Valley Legend Peter Newland coming in on Saturday with his group RadioExile.

Finally, Ray Guillemette Jr. gets a jump on Christmas with his Sunday performance at the Hu Ke Lau in Chicopee. His Ray-of-Elvis performance will feature all of Elvis’ holiday favorites and benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets are $20 and available by calling (413) 593-5222.
