BUCKLAND – Hollywood is coming soon to a village near you, but you most likely won’t know it until the last minute.

Paramount Pictures hopes to shoot scenes from the Kate Winslet movie “Labor Day” in Shelburne Falls, perhaps as soon as next week. Based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Maynard, “Labor Day” stars Josh Brolin along with Winslet. The book tells the story of a 13-year-old boy named Henry who lives with his mother, Adele, in the fictional New Hampshire town of Holton Mills. Adele, a former dancer, is keeping a terrible secret. Their stagnant world begins to change when a mysterious man named Frank comes into their lives.

Like Adele, Paramount Pictures keeping nearly everything secret. The company has not officially said exactly where or when it will shoot, although movie officials have been in both Buckland and Shelburne and met with police and town officials.

According to Buckland Town Administrator Andrea Llamas, a member of the production team met with the Board of Selectmen last week to discuss using the town’s streets and sidewalks for scenes, possibly as early as next Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting. Llamas said one of the scenes will feature the boy riding his bicycle over the Iron Bridge over the Deerfield River that separates the two towns.

Paramount officials have not confirmed any details of the filming and say much of what has been reported is inaccurate. The company promised to release a statement with more information soon.
