The Beatles recorded at Abbey Road Studios for the first time on June 6, 1962.
Wednesday is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles first session at Abbey Road Studios. Of the four songs recorded that day, only their performances of “Besame Mucho” and “Love Me Do” survive. Early takes of “PS I Love You” and “Ask Me Why” have been lost to history.
Marking that anniversary, here are five of the Fab Four’s most successful albums in the United Kingdom in terms of sales.
1. “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (1967)
2. “Abbey Road” (1969)
3. “With The Beatles” (1963)
4. “Revolver” (1966)
5. “The Beatles” (1968)
