A movie about former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is in the works and Al Pacino is in line to play JoePa, according to Deadline.com.

The movie will be based on the recently released book Paterno, by Joe Posnanski, which is currently atop the The New York Times Bestseller List, according to the report.

It is unclear if the movie will be a feature film or made for cable television, according to the report.

The book covers the scandal that resulted in Paterno's dismissal from Penn State - the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case and the cover-up that ensued. The book also goes back to Paterno's life before Penn State as well as his rise to power at the school due to the success of the football program.
