The event takes place Saturday on the picturesque grounds of the King House Museum on South Main Street.
The Tobacco Valley Artists Association will host its 10th Annual Suffield Fine Arts Festival, featuring the works of dozens of artists from all over the region, on Saturday.
The festival, featuring the works of fine artists and photographers, takes place on the picturesque grounds of the King House Museum on South Main Street in Suffield.
“We will have upwards of 50 booths, with artists from the local area, as well as from other states here in New England,” said Fran Milliken, chairman of the board for artists association and co-chairman of the festival. “Some of the artists have been with us for the duration, the whole 10 years.”
Many of the Tobacco Valley artists will display their works in a tent that expected to showcase the works of approximately 25 members.
“We will have fine photography, there will be oils, acrylics and mixed media, but there will be no crafts,” Milliken said. “We have established a following, if you will, of legitimate patrons of the arts. Although we don’t get high traffic, we get a very discerning customer, shall we see.”
Milliken said many customers look forward to this show and go there with the intention of buying something.
“That shows up in the results the artists enjoy in terms of sales,” he said.
Paintings are sold at this event, unlike at some arts festivals, and they are reasonably priced. The venue can’t be beat, Milliken said.
“It’s a great setting,” he said. “The King House Museum will be open that day for tours. It’s a great place to hold an event like this.”
Visitors to the festival will be able to see many artists at work at their craft, and will be able to ask questions. There will be musicians performing background music throughout the day, and refreshments will be available.
