The band will perform at the Calvin Theatre on Nov. 10.
Barefoot Truth will be bringing their “Farewell Tour” to the Calvin Theatre on Nov. 10, marking the end of a solid run for the band that made some noise on the iTunes Rock Charts with their album “Carry Us On,” and packed clubs around the region.
“The idea of life on the road has become far less appealing to the five of us after actually ‘living’ on the road,” said guitarist and co-founder Jay Driscoll who is from South Hadley. “It has been an incredible ride, and even after all these years, the five of us still have an absolute blast together.”
Driscoll says the band has been hard at it since 2007, writing, traveling, performing, and living together after graduating from college.
“It has become clear that if we want to make a long-term career out of this, we need to start spending a lot more time on the road... time away from our families and friends at home, which is just not something any of us desire to do,” he said. “We came to the unanimous decision as a group, and are fortunate to all be on the exact same page.”
Driscoll points to a couple of experiences with Barefoot Truth that will stick with him.
“Playing at President Obama's pre-debate rally in New York,” he said. “As we walked off the stage, David Crosby and Graham Nash, who are both heroes of mine, were walking on. I'll never forget that day. To experience being a part of that moment in history was unforgettable. From the icons we met to the crowd we played for, the day was magical.”
He also suggests that Nov. 10, the band’s final local appearance, will also have a lasting impact on him.
“As a local Western Mass musician, performing, never mind headlining, at The Calvin has always been an absolute dream of mine,” he said. “I have a feeling that this will be one of those 'unforgettable moments in life' for me.”
Driscoll joins John Waynelovich (Turners Falls) and Andy Wrba (Pittsfield) as the Western Mass members of a band that also features co-founder Will Evans and Garrett Duffy.
The Northampton show, followed by a Nov. 11 performance at The Royale Boston on Tremont Street, marks the end of the line for the group that landed in the Top Ten of the iTunes Rock Chart and was honored with a New England Music Award.
“Though the shows are coming to an end, the music and the friendships will always be there,” Driscoll said.
Tickets for the Calvin performance are $20 and available through the Northampton Box Office at (413) 586-8686 or online at iheg.com
