As it now stands, "The Office" will end its nine-year run this spring without its characters continuing in a new series.
Even though "The Office" is ending its run this season, NBC is not buying "The Farm."
NBC had ordered a pilot episode of "The Farm," based on Rainn Wilson's Dwight Shrute character and his family-owned beet farm. However, the network has decided not to move forward with the concept, according to Wilson.
"Farm Update: NBC has passed on moving forward with 'The Farm' TV show. Had a blast making the pilot - onwards & upwards!," Wilson told fans via Twiiter.
NBC had hoped "The Farm" would be to "The Office" what "Frasier was to "Cheers" - a respected and successful spin-off

There has been no indication whether the pilot episode of "The Farm" will air as a special episode of "The Office" or included as an extra on a DVD box set collection.
