There is no shortage of holiday music playing around the Pioneer Valley and beyond these days as local, regional, and national venues play host to Christmas-themed concerts.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings their “Lost Christmas Eve” performance to the XL Center n Hartford on Dec. 20 and Boston’s TD Garden on Dec. 23.
After wrapping up their Dec. 7 concert at Symphony Hall, the Dan Kane Singers will continue to spread holiday cheer with shows at the Munich Haus in Chicopee on Friday, St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow on Dec. 16, and the Ingleside Mall in Holyoke on Dec. 22. Ronnie Spector’s “Best Christmas Party Ever” comes to the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den on Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. The show is free but seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will also offers seasonal fare when they show up at the Wolf Den for the “Wild, Swinging Holiday Party” Friday and Saturday.
The Iron Horse has already seen the Sweetback Sisters perform a “Country Christmas Sing Along” and will continue the holiday spirit with Raul Malo’s Holiday tour on Saturday) and “Irish Christmas in America” on Tuesday. Back in 2007, Malo released a Christmas album called “Marshmallow World and Other Holiday Favorites.”
World music will be represented at the Academy of Music in Northampton on Saturday with the Equarox Holiday Gala that features Tony Vacca, Paul Lieberman, and drum and dance company Nimbaya. Tickets are available at academyofmusictheatre.com
Local hero Ray Mason will join artists such as the Chandler Travis Philharmonic, Vance Gilbert, and Livingston Taylor in the annual “Christmas Cavalcade Benefit for the Homeless” at Johnny D’s in Somerville Thursday night. Ticket information and the full lineup is available at johnnyds.com
Finally, a group of local tribute performers will gather for a concert to benefit the Pioneer Valley USO. Billed as the “Legends Holiday Extravaganza,” the concert features 20 different tributes from Bon Jovi to Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, and Elvis. The show will be held at the Hu Ke Lau on Sunday.
