British soprano Sarah Brightman has delayed the release of her upcoming “Dreamchaser,” album, prompting a rescheduled North American tour.

Dreamchaser, originally due out next month, will instead be released in April. The singer's tour, which was to have begun after the start of the new year, has been postponed until the fall.

"Whilst I regret any inconvenience that this rescheduling might have occasioned for those people who have already bought tickets, the restructuring of my worldwide album release plan made it inevitable. Clearly a concert is always more enjoyable if there is familiarity with the music being performed and given how important this new 'Dreamchaser' album is to me, I am keen for those attending my shows to hear it prior to the performance. I’m delighted with the new album and very excited about the show that I’ll be presenting in 2013,” Brightman said in a prepared statement.

Her previously scheduled Feb. 3 show at the Boston Opera House has been moved to Sept. 18. A concert at the Bushnell in Hartford, slated for Feb. 12, will now take place on Sept. 24.

Tickets purchased for February shows will be honored on the rescheduled dates. However, for customers who cannot attend the rescheduled dates, refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Brightman, who rose to fame on Broadway in "The Phantom of the Opera," has distinguished herself as the world’s biggest selling soprano of all time with global sales reaching over 30 million units. She has received more than 180 gold and platinum awards in over 40 countries.

At the conclusion of this tour, Brightman will spend six months in Russia's Star City cosmonaut training center. Later, she will travel to the International Space Station.

Brightman, a UNESCO ambassador, said the space trip would promote the U.N. agency's message, in particular by encouraging women's education in the sciences and environmental awareness.
