Upcoming concert news: Gaelic Storm, Bill Engvall, Michael Nesmith tribute and more

Comedian Bill Engvall will appear at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on April 27. Tickets are priced between $60 and $35 and go on sale beginning Jan. 4 through the Foxwoods Box Office at (866) 646-0606 and online at foxwoods.com.


Gaelic Storm will perform at the Calvin Theater on March 23. Tickets are $26 and available through the Northampton Box Office by calling (413) 586-8686 and online at iheg.com.


Duncan Sheik has a concert scheduled for Feb. 14 at the Infinity Hall in Norfolk, Conn. Tickets are on sale beginning Thursday through infinityhall.com. Tickets are also on sale that day for the Feb. 28 appearance of Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds.


Sarah Brightman’s originally planned concert at The Bushnell on Feb. 12 has been moved to the fall. Brightman will now perform at the Hartford theater on Sept. 24. The postponement follows the new schedule for her “Dreamchaser” album release which has been pushed back to April of 2013. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored.


Local musicians will gather at The Elevens in Northampton on Dec. 30 for a music tribute to Michael Nesmith in honor of the Monkees star’s 70th birthday. Lord Russ, Philip Price, Ray Mason, Lesa Bezo, Jason Bourgeois, Stephen Desaulniers, Henning Ohlenbusch, and Ken Maiuri are just some of the artists who will be performing Nesmith tunes. The show begins at 7 p.m.


Former Sox GM Theo Epstein’s annual Hot Stove Cool Music concert takes place Jan. 12 at the Paradise Rock Club on Boston. The concert features music from the Hot Stove All-Stars featuring Peter Gammons, Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz and indie rocker Kay Hanley with Robin Lane. Hollywood actor Mike O’Malley will take the reins as emcee for the charity concert. Tickets and information will be available through foundationtobenamedlater.org


The Gathering of the Vibes and the City of Bridgeport have confirmed an agreement to hold the annual music, camping, and arts festival at Seaside Park for five more years, through 2017. Tickets for the July 25-28 are on sale now and available through govibes.com.
