Season 2 of "Dallas" debuts on Monday night.
Larry Hagman's villainous J.R. Ewing will be given a fitting send-off on season 2 of TNT's "Dallas."
Hagman, 81, filmed several season 2 episodes before his death on Nov. 23 complications from leukemia. Producers have decided to have his character murdered in a storyline that recalls the classic "Who shot J.R.?" episodes when "Dallas" aired on CBS in the 1980s.
"We all felt having J.R. die of natural causes would have been completely inappropriate, not only to the character, but also to Larry Hagman," executive producer Cynthia Cidre told TV Guide.
The plotline was approved by Hagman's longtime friend and co-star Patrick Duffy, as well as Hagman's son, Preston.
