Holyoke sets public hearing on Comcast's performance, cable TV license renewal

The Holyoke contract with Comcast expires in October.

HOLYOKE - Viewers will get to grade Comcast and discuss future cable television needs at a public hearing Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, 291 Pine St.

Mayor Alex B. Morse is holding the hearing as part of the process in which the city is negotiating a new cable TV contract. The current, 10-year contract with Comcast expires in October. Comcast has about 12,000 customers in Holyoke, Morse said.

Comcast officials have refused to say whether the company is amenable to changes such as providing a public access station or programming choices. Morse held a hearing in October that drew 30 people.
