Shakin' All Over concert to benefit Southwick Rotary Club

Shakin' All Over is a six-piece band that is successful in getting the crowd on the dance floor. The group concentrates its play selection during the era from 1954 to 1963.

SOUTHWICK - Chris Boyd, president of the Southwick Rotary Club, announced that "Shakin' all Over," a band that takes a nostalgic look at the greatest rock-and-roll dance hits of the 1950s and '60s, will play a Rotary engagement at the Southwick Recreation Center.

Shakin' All Over is a six-piece band that is successful in getting the crowd on the dance floor. The group concentrates its play selection during the era from 1954 to 1963.

The group features Janice Dee on lead vocals and is known for her tribute shows to Patsy Cline and others. Bandleader Mike Slahetka plays a Fender telecasting guitar and has recorded in Memphis. J. D. Foster plays the drums and sings, Kenny Blount is on saxophone with Paul Nadeau on keyboards and vocals, with Steve Frankel handling bass and vocals. Nadeau has played with the popular Solid Gold Cadillacs for 18 years.

The dance party is scheduled for March 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the recreation center. There will be prizes for best dressed and best dancers. There will also be a raffle. Attendees may bring their own snacks. A cash bar is available.

Proceeds from the dance will support Rotary community and youth programs.

The Southwick Rotary Club is made up of business and professional men and women working together as volunteers. Rotarians work locally, regionally and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto of Service above Self. Benefits of being a Rotarian include serving the community, networking and friendship while promoting ethics and leadership.
