The show is also losing the series' creator, Emily Spivey, who has served as a producer.
It's a nightmare for "Up All Night" as one of its stars has bailed.
Christina Applegate, who stars with Will Arnett as a young couple with a small child, has left the NBC sitcom after announced changes in the show's format and the departure of two production staffers.
The show had been shot with a single camera, like "The Office." However, producers are changing the format to the traditional three-camera production filmed before a studio audience.
The show is also losing the series' creator, Emily Spivey, who has served as a producer, and its most recent show-running producer, Tucker Cawley, according to the New York Times.
"It's been a great experience working on Up All Night, but the show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors," Applegate said in a statement to USA Today. "Working with (executive producer) Lorne Michaels has been a dream come true and I am grateful he brought me into his TV family. I will miss the cast, producers and crew, and wish them the best always."
NBC has not revealed whether it will cancel the show, recast Applegate's role, or write her character out of the show. The show has not been a ratings hit and the network could opt to cancel the show.
