The New York Daily News also cited a source saying Morrison had been ousted from a post at NBC in 2008 because of marital infidelities.

New York anchorman Rob Morrison quit his WCBS-TV job Wednesday after a meeting with station officials, according to the New York Daily News.

“My family is my first and only priority right now and I have informed CBS management that I need to put all of my time and energy into making sure that I do what’s best for my wife and my son,” Morrison said in a statement. “I very much appreciate the opportunity that CBS has given me and I thank them for accepting my decision.”

His resignation came three days after his arrest for choking his wife — and then allegedly threatening to kill her — in a late-night fight in their Darien, Conn., home. A judge issued an order of protection against Morrison on Tuesday requiring him to stay 100 yards away from wife Ashley Morrison except when they’re both at work. She works for “CBS Moneywatch.”

The New York Daily News also cited a source saying Morrison had been ousted from a post at NBC in 2008 because of marital infidelities. Ashley Morrison had fired off a memo to NBC management about an illicit romance, and his contract was not renewed.

Morrison, who has been a combat correspondent and was a reporter and anchor for WNBC-TV, anchors WCBS-TV's news programs "This Morning" and "News at Noon." He worked for WWLP-TV, Channel 22, in Springfield in the 1990s.
