Upcoming concert news: Lauryn Hill, Rammstein and more

Round-up of several upcoming concerts worth checking out.

R&B star Lauryn Hill headlines Mohegan Sun Arena on Dec. 17. Tickets are $78 and $58 and on sale now through Ticketmaster outlets and locations including ticketmaster.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000.

Tickets are also on sale now through Ticketmaster for Reba McEntire’s Jan. 14 performance at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets are $65 and $45. Reba appears at the casino just three months after closing out this year’s concert schedule at the Big E.

The Dropkick Murphys will arrive at Mohegan Sun Arena on March 10. Tickets are $25.50 and on sale now. Mohegan Sun will also honor the stars of its Wolf Den venue with an arena performance that features appearances from Eddie Money, John Cafferty and Beaver Brown, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Jay Black, and America. That show comes to the arena on Feb. 20. Tickets are $30.

John Eddie comes to the Iron Horse on March 3. Tickets are $17.50 in advance for the 7 p.m. show. The James Hunter Band will appear at the club on March 24.

Comic Bill Burr will play the Calvin Theater on Dec. 1. Tickets are $35 and $25. Burr first gained notoriety on Dave Chappelle’s television show and was recently named Comedian of the Year at the Boston Comedy Festival.

Aretha Franklin plays the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on Dec. 30. Tickets are $70 and $50 and on sale now through mgmatfoxwoods.com and by calling (866) 646-0609.

The DCU Center in Worcester has two new shows on sale with German metal outfit Rammstein playing the venue on April 29 and country group Lady Antebellum bringing its “Own the Night 2012” tour to the building on May 5. Both shows are on sale now through Ticketmaster.

Kelly Clarkson appears at the Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theater on Dec. 1 as part of the 96.5 WTIC-FM All-Star Christmas show. She returns to the area on Jan. 13 with her “Stronger” world tour, playing the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and are priced at $90 and $60.

Kenny Chesney will make his annual appearance at Gillette Stadium this summer, this time as part of the “Brothers of the Sun” tour with Tim McGraw. The shows comes to Foxboro on Aug. 25 and includes opening sets by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Jake Owen. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 3 through Ticketmaster.

James Montgomery comes to Infinity Hall on Jan. 19 with special guest Barrence Whitfield. Tickets are on sale Thursday Nov. 24 through infinityhall.com. Also on sale that day are tickets for shows with Robert Earl Keen (Jan. 24), and Tab Benoit (Feb. 12).

have two shows lined up in the region in December, playing CityStage in Springfield on Dec. 13 and then heading down to Mohegan Sun to play the Cabaret Theater on Dec. 14. The local show, put on by KIX 100.9 FM has already sold out.

The New Valley Singers present "Music for the Holidays" at 3 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 3 at First Congregational Church in Hadley and 3 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 4 at Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke.

The New England Doo Wop Society will present its 6th annual New Year's Eve Party at the Holiday Inn in Enfield on Dec. 31. The Sharades will perform along with a guest deejay.
