WORCESTER -- The parade seemed endless. Floats, buses, fire trucks, bands and classic cars stretched down Park Avenue in Worcester for the city's 31st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 10.
Even though a snowstorm on Friday dumped up to 16 inches of snow in some areas of the city, the parade was not postponed.
Parking was tight and traffic dense around the starting point of the parade, at Mill Street and Park Avenue. Crowds gathered and did their best to show off their Irish spirit by wearing green attire, including hats and four-leaf clover glasses.
Local politicians like Congressman Jim McGovern were in attendance and participated in the parade. A float sponsored by city manager Michael O'Brien displayed a leprechaun with a cutout of the city manager's face on it.
The parade continued down the busy main road to Highland Street.
