Zach Farley and Steve Gibbons, both Westfield State graduates, will speak on Thursday evening.
Westfield State University will a host a discussion by the authors of Prima’s Official Player’s Guide to Madden NFL ’12 and NCAA Football ’12 in Scanlon Banquet Hall on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Zach Farley and Steve Gibbons, both 2008 Westfield State graduates and co-authors of the player’s guides, will lead the discussion complete with a question and answers session, and advice on how to perfect your game and learn new techniques.
The event is free and open to the public.
Farley and Gibbons met at Westfield State and quickly turned their harmless video game rivalry into an Internet sensation. They posted a Madden focused video online in 2008, which received close to 100,000 views overnight. From that success, they created MaddenBible.com
Since then, Gibbons and Farley haven taken their passion for Madden to a whole new level by creating 5 Sets for Success (simple instructions to help players beat the game), posting weekly videos on their website about the game including the most recent series “Mad-Den TV”, and finally by co-writing the official player’s guide.
Gibbons is looking forward to returning to his alma mater.
“My time at Westfield State was unbelievable; I met life-long friends and learned how to live an independent life,” Gibbons said. “There was always one big thing that stood out in my mind about Westfield State and that was the sense of community. The teachers, the faculty, and staff always made you feel welcome and that is something that I have learned to carry into my current career.”
The alumni will share their story and even include hands on demonstrations of how to apply their strategies.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is sponsored by Academic Affairs, Advancement and University Relations, Campus Center, and Residential Life.
