Breyer's Butter Pecan lacks flavor.

When I was a kid my mom would buy Sara Lee pecan pies occasionally and I always loved the combination of a sweet pie with crunchy pecans covered in a sugary glaze.

I recently noticed that Breyer’s has been offering some of its flavors in a pint sized container instead of the half gallon. When I saw the Butter Pecan option I figured I would give it a go.

There are so many issues with this treat I’m not sure where to begin.

I must blame myself for not reading the description on the carton. I read Butter Pecan and assumed I would be getting a pecan or sweet cream ice cream with pecans mixed in and maybe a caramel swirl. I got nothing of the sort.

I really enjoy Breyer’s All Natural flavors so I didn’t look to see if this was in fact ice cream or a frozen dairy dessert. Turns out it was a frozen dairy dessert, which isn’t a deal breaker for me. However, the fact that it was an artificial vanilla ice cream really bugged me.

I was expecting a sweet, creamy base and instead got a tasteless vanilla imitation of ice cream.

As for this wonderful gooey swirl I was expecting, I got nothing. Of course, once I read the description I realized it was basically fake vanilla ice cream with pecans mixed in. There was no mention of a swirl.

The pecans were crunchy and plentiful, so no problems there.

Overall, I give this one scoop because the pecans were yummy. As for the ice cream, it plain sucked and I wouldn’t recommend this treat to anyone.
