On Tuesdays, the bar will feature classical Spanish guitarist Atticus Robbins

I try to keep it pretty open mind as far as what I call a "club" in this column.

These days, there are numerous venues that have that serve that have multipurposes. Some are straight ahead nightclubs, others are eateries that morph into clubs in the evening, others are some other combination of food, drink and shenanigans. To me, it's all good, as long as there's some sort of entertainment and way to get some liquid refreshment. This usually involves some sort of alcohol drinks, but not always. I certainly have written about a few establishments that serve only juice and or coffee, but still have regular entertainment at night.

I mention this because this week I'm writing about a venue that recently added entertainment to the mix, thereby making it eligible for mention in this column. Northampton's Ibiza Tapas and Wine Bar will now present some sort of entertainment several nights a week.

On Tuesdays, the bar will feature classical Spanish guitarist Atticus Robbins between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Then, on every Wednesday Ibiza will hold a dance party karaoke presented by Cloud 9 Productions DJ Amanda. These shindigs will run between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. As regular readers know, Cloud 9 Productions is one of my favorite entertainment companies in the area. They put on the great DJ music, great karaoke and, of course, great pub trivia. I've been to Amanda's shows and she does a exemplary job keeping the place hopping.

It also seems like Ibiza will have live music occasionally much as they did on two weeks ago when the Mary Jane Jones appeared there. I'll keep a lookout and see if this is a recurring theme or it was just a one-time event. Being more of a beer guy, I don't get to Ibiza that often, but they have some fantastic wines and superb bites. Add in a bit of entertainment and it's a perfect date spot.

Ibiza Tapas and Wine Bar is at 7 Strong Ave.

SCOUTING REPORT

Old friend and stellar songwriter Rick Murnane will bring his band (The Rick Murnane Band, of course) to The Basement in Northampton on April 20. Connecticut tunesmith Bill Catalde will also be on hand, which mean The Prestons (a duo consisting of Murnane and Catalde) will also be playing a set, with Murnane's rhythm section, Nick Dines and Fred Goodhue joining on a few songs. The show starts at 8 p.m. There is  no cover, but tips for the band are appreciated. The Basement is located at 21 Center St. in Northampton.

Another great show on April 20 will be at The Elevens in Northampton, when Shokazoba and Flabberghaster bring the funk to the stage there. The cover will $5. The Elevens is located at 140 Pleasant St.

Connecticut's Mike Crandall Blues Band comes to Theodores' at 201 Worthington St. in downtown Springfield on Friday at 9:30 p.m.
