This week, I look ahead to Episode 3, "The Collaborators."
Trying to dissect AMC's trailers for the next episode of Mad Men each week is like trying to predict how each season will end. That being said, each Wednesday I'm going to take a look at the thirty second preview clip for that week and attempt to shed some light on what seems to be happening. This week, I look ahead to Episode 3, "The Collaborators."
Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) appears to have the most screen time in this clip, and he doesn't seem happy any of the times he shows up (what else is new?). It looks like he's still having issues adjusting to suburban life, and perhaps we'll see if Trudy (Alison Brie) ever allowed him to get an apartment in the city, like they talked about last season. In fact, all of the scenes we see him in during this preview seem to be at his house. Last season, his struggles in his work life carried over into his home, so it'll be interesting to see how things are going for him in the office, as they clearly aren't much better for him at home.
This preview also has Roger (John Slattery) saying, presumably to Don (Jon Hamm), "I didn't know you were capable of being that bad," followed closely by a rather cold-looking moment between him and Joan (Christina Hendricks). This could either mean that Don said something to Joan in regards to a new problem that develops this week, or it could be a carry over from the issue revolving around her in last season's outstanding "The Other Woman." Another quick glimpse at Don shaking his head at Roger suggests this could be a rather big moment for at least one of the three characters.
The rest of the cuts in the trailer are far too quick and random to make any real sense of them.
