How do you feel about celebrity's comments during tragedies?
We are all aware that celebrities thrive on publicity but at the same time they are people, the same as you and I. When tragedies such as the Boston Marathon explosions strike they turn to social media with their thoughts, their horror, their fears and their condolences. At times they are heartfelt and meaningful, other times they smack of grandstanding.
MassLive.com commenter Mars made note of the reported reactions of Boston-based celebrity Mark Wahlberg in their comment:
I like Mark, but I am jaded. Whenever celebrities chime in on something like this, I automatically think they are looking for press coverage. Similar to the pols who politicize tragedies in order to meet their hidden agendas (and gain votes.)
What do you think? Do celebrities help in times of tragedy, or just add more noise to what can easily be an overload of information?
