Scoopful of Ice Cream frozen yogurt shop a nice surprise.
Recently two of my favorite people hijacked me and took me to MoFroYo in Westfield for a make-it-yourself frozen yogurt adventure.
A lot of these self- serve places have been popping up around town and I've been reluctant to try one because it seemed like a very high pressure situation. A ton of different flavors to choose from and dozens of toppings, it's just too much!
I have to say however that my first experience was pretty awesome and I will definitely review more shops in the future.
There were at least 12 frozen yogurt choices to pick from, but I stuck with chocolate, until I saw chocolate peanut butter brownie as an option and I had to add some of that to my cup. I followed it up with a variety of toppings including peanut M&Ms , Reese's Pieces, marshmallow sauce, whipped cream and of course rainbow sprinkles.
The result was an awesome explosion of flavors. The frozen yogurt is soft serve and tastes sweet but not too sweet. The chocolate peanut butter brownie was a little light on peanut butter, which was disappointing, but not a deal breaker.
Since I got to choose the toppings I wanted I was pretty happy with the combination although I wasn't a huge fan of the marshmallow sauce. It tasted a bit like melted Styrofoam. I wouldn't recommended it.
The establishment itself was clean and organized. There were dozens of topping selections ranging from fresh fruit to crushed peanuts and chocolate covered raisins.
If you're in the mood to experiment with your frozen dessert stop by the shop on East Main Street in Westfield. I give the shop four scoops for cleanliness, friendly service and great selection and the ice cream itself gets four scoops as well for yumminess.
