In the highly anticipated season four finale of “Glee” fans went in to the episode with many questions that they hoped to get answered before being left with a hiatus. Will Rachel be the next Fanny Brice? Will Ryder discover who is catfishing him? Will we finally get a reunion between Kurt and Blaine? And what do the show runners have in store for Brittany seeing as Heather Morris is pregnant in real life?

This week’s finale entitled ‘All or Nothing’ answered some of those questions, and used others to leave viewers hanging and waiting for next season.

Here’s what you missed on “Glee.”

Brittany is a genius? The episode opened on Brittany in an interview with MIT personnel who tell her that while her GPA is abysmal and she failed the math test they gave her, she did do something quite miraculous. When they show the random numbers that Brittany doodled on the back of her test they tell her that when read in different combinations her numbers solve complex equations. They go on to tell her that she may be one of the brightest minds since Albert Einstein and that they have a proposition for her.

When Brittany returns to McKinley, she becomes extremely arrogant and starts bossing everyone around and says that she is leaving glee club because she has not been given all the solos for Regionals. Among her other quips; telling Blaine he is shorter than the basic lawn gnome and breaking up with Sam via text.

Sam, in concern for Brittany, calls Santana and tells her that she should come back to Ohio to try to talk to Brittany and figure out what has caused this change in their friend. Santana agrees and after appearing on Brittany’s web show ‘Fondue for Two’ Santana tells Brittany how much she still cares for her and Brittany in turn tells Santana that she has news for her.

After her talk with Santana Brittany returns to glee club for Regionals and explains why she has been acting differently. She tells the story of what happened at MIT and then tells the glee club that she was accepted early admission and they want her there as soon as possible (sounds like a good ploy incase Morris cannot return for next season). Brittany then explains to the glee club how good she feels since someone has told she was smart and then tells each member of the club why they are special to her.

Rachel has her callback. In one short scene at the beginning of the episode we see Rachel enter her callback for the role of Fanny Brice in “Funny girl.” We see Rachel audition with Celine Dion’s ‘To Love You More’ in an emotional performance ending in true Rachel Berry fashion with tears. The casting directors thank Rachel and that is all we know. We will all have to sit and wait until next season to see if Rachel is in fact the next Fanny Brice.

Ryder finds his ‘catfish.’ Ryder, finally fed up with knowing that his mystery friend ‘Katie’ is someone in the glee club, vows to not perform at Regionals unless the person confesses. After experiences Ryder’s rage for too long, Marley stands up and tells him that she has been catfishing him, causing him to storm out of the room.

Later, Ryder confronts Marley in the hall telling her that he can’t understand why she would do that to him. As Marley begins to try to explain her reasoning Unique appears behind her telling Ryder it was actually him. Unique tells Ryder that is started as a harmless joke but then the more that Ryder began to tell ‘Katie’ the more comfortable he became. Unique says that the online relationship with Ryder was the first time he felt like someone would open up and be close to him without him being transgendered getting in the way. Ryder then tells Unique that he is not okay with it and will no longer talk to Unique.

Blaine wants to put a ring on it. Even after being rejected by Papa Hummel last week when he asked for permission to propose to Kurt, Blaine was still on a mission to do so. While asking Sam for advice, Sam tells him that he thinks he is moving too fast too soon, but Blaine wants to hear none of it.

We next see Blaine in a jewelry store shopping for an engagement ring. He soon meets the sales lady who begins to tell him about her relationship with her partner that she has been with for 30 years. Blaine finds comfort in hearing the story of another same sex couple in Ohio and forms a bond with the woman. Sam also enters the ring shop telling Blaine that if he is going to propose to Kurt that he wants to help him pick the ring. The sales lady then asks Blaine if he and Kurt have any older gay friends that they can talk to about things. When Blaine says no she invites them to join her and her partner for supper.

During their supper the couple explains to Kurt and Blaine everything they went through as teenagers in a world that was much less accepting. When Kurt asks how she met Blaine, the store owner and Blaine make up a quick story about meeting at the food court at the mall. She then asks how long the boys have been together and Kurt is very quick to answer, “Oh, we aren’t together.” The women then explain how they are very happy seeing the progress that gay marriage is making in the United States and the next thing you know, the store owner is proposing to her partner in the middle of Breadstix.

By the end of the episode all we know is that Blaine went to buy an engagement ring and Kurt doesn’t see them as ‘together.’ The episode ends with the camera slowly backing out of the choir room with Blaine holding a ring box behind his back.

Wemma makes it official. After the glee club wins Regionals (oh yeah, the glee club wins Regionals) Will and Emma decide to get married right there in the choir room with only the glee kids and some alumni present (seriously, do they have adult friends?). Luckily Emma brings a priest along with her and he proceeds to hold the ceremony right there pronouncing them Mr. and Mrs. Schuester.

Overall, this season finale left something to be desired as compared to “Glee” season finales in the past. There seemed to be too heavy of a focus on the Brittany storyline just to get us to understand that she will be leaving for MIT; and is it just me or does anyone else just want to lock Kurt and Blaine in a room and make them actually TALK about what they want from each other? Fans are left wondering two things now. Is Blaine actually going to pop the question? Is Rachel the new Fanny Brice? We will have to sit and wait for season five to find out.
