This one is entitled “Notes On A Killing: Love, Lies and Murder in a Small New Hampshire Town.

There are – as usual in an opus penned by Flynn, a former TV journalist turned true-crime writer – many twists and turns and many familiar features about the murder and how the one responsible used all kinds of machinations to get away with the dastardly deed. Its amazing these events happened in a sleepy little Granite State town.

Flynn and Lavoie collaborated on a book last year entitled “Our Little Secret,” and another, called “Legally Dead,” about a father and son connected through murder. Flynn’s fledgling opus, “Wicked Intentions” released several years ago, also dealt with capital crimes in New Hampshire.

The books have great flair and attention to every little detail. This ability, no doubt, Flynn honed while in journalism.

It is really amazing how the writers are able to glean facts and figures from those involved, including a usually hard-to-get to police side of the investigations.

Berkley Books of New York is the publisher, and the paperback version should be available at your local book store.

Kevin, son of Robert “Charby” Flynn and Sharon Flynn of Holyoke, was educated here and had his career in journalism. He won many awards from his work in the television field and he now works for various magazines and in public relations.

Lavoie is a free-lance writer and has written for Newsweek, Playboy and other publications.

They live in New Hampshire and do visit the Holyoke area often to be with family.

I highly recommend the new book, especially if you like a good plot and a great ending.

Michael J. Burke, of Holyoke, is retired from The Republican. He can be reached at ekrubm@verizon.net
