Theories are running rampant on the internet on who is leaving the Ghost Hunters television show.
Ever since the mid-season finale for Ghost Hunters aired during the latest episode of the show the internet has been in an uproar trying to figure out the meaning of all the tears and the hugs that were seen in the promo for the show. Speculation has been rampant, myself included, and just about every TAPS team member has been held up for speculation on whether or not they will continue on the show.
There are some good theories out there and there are some pretty wild theories out there, I thought we’d take a look and see if we can sort them out. Here goes:
Twisted-News has its money on Steve Gonsalves finally getting sick of driving across the country trying to keep up with the rest of the team who fly in and out of those roadside attractions. I’m not buying this one. In a former life, Steve was a police officer and I really don’t see him going back to that. He is also far too young to be ready to retire and I doubt that he’s made enough money from his stint on Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters Academy to be able to not work anymore. I don’t know, maybe Steve is hiding some mad investment skills and he does have some dough stashed somewhere, but I’m not buying it. The guy is going to need to continue to work and I don’t think he’s got a resume’ that will get him a ‘regular job.’ That’s not to say that people haven’t done stranger things than quitting a paying job without a safety net.
Paranormal Pop Culture – Who oddly doesn’t have a byline on this story, followed my line of reasoning almost line-for-line, but hey, whatever, and came up with the same result, Grant! Surprise!
I’ve also seen arguments on Twitter for it being Jason Hawes, citing his weight-loss being a sign of illness and a desire to do new projects, although I can’t say I’m buying that argument. Ghost Hunters has been Jason’s baby for far too long for him to walk away from it. No. They’re gonna have to drag him away kicking and screaming I think.
I’ve seen a couple of spam sites that are shilling stuff using an ‘Adam Berry is leaving’ approach. It’s not entirely out of left field. He does have an incredibly bored look on his face in every single episode lately, not to mention looking exhausted. Perhaps it’s time for Adam to go back to what he went to school for … Acting! Oh. Wait. Never mind… I don’t think Adam leaving would cause anyone to cry, never mind for Britt to say he feels like he’s going to puke. So, no -- I’m not going to get excited over this rumor either. Damn.
I’ve seen comments on my original article claiming it’s David Tango that we should all be looking at. Again the claims are about his health causing him to have to quit. As far as I know Tango has Tourette Syndrome and nothing else. I haven’t seen anything on the show to lead me to believe that his condition has gotten worse and it is not a degenerative disease so this one is way out in left field. It’s not Tango -- which is awesome because hopefully this means we’ll get some more episodes with his dad, Bruce Tango, who is always a ton of fun to watch.
I even received a comment saying they think it’s Maddie the ghost hunting dog that is maybe sick or has died. Umm. No. I’m not even going to go there. If they filmed a commercial with a voice over saying “TAPS will never be the same!” over losing the Hawes family dog, I will turn in my Junior Ghost Hunters badge and never write another syllable about this show.
Ever.
I think one team member that we’ve overlooked here may be Amy Bruni. Her statement of ‘Do you think it’s good news or bad news?’ could just mean that it’s ‘good news for her but bad news for the team.’ Actually, the more I think about that one, the better I like it. Falling back on Twitter I did see Amy tell Chip Coffey ‘So much to tell you, (or do you already know????). ;)’ It could be anything but seriously it does sound like something big doesn’t it? She has mentioned a boy friend a couple of times as well. It’s got to be incredibly difficult to maintain a relationship on her schedule. Perhaps she’s looking to get off the road for a while. It would explain the tears from Steve and the hugs from Grant. Britt has been off and on close with Amy and that could explain the ‘gonna puke’ statement as well.
I don’t know folks, I may be ready to switch my vote on this one. What do you think? Is there a valid argument out there for Amy leaving? I’m at 60% Grant and 40% Amy – just don’t get me started on the fact that Kris Williams up and went over to Ghost Hunters International and now Amy is the only girl left on the show … That just might tip the scales here.
Tell me what you think of the new theory. Who is your pick for the ‘big Ghost Hunters secret?’
