Which of your favorites has been ignored at the Academy Awards?
They were robbed! Here are five of my favorite films that did not win the Academy Award for best picture.
1. “Citizen Kane” (1941) — The greatest movie ever made was beat out by “How Green Was My Valley.”
2. “King Kong” (1933) — The iconic movie generations have adored wasn’t nominated for best picture the year Oscar honored “Cavalcade.”
4. “Giant” (1957) — The team of James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson proved to be no match for “Around the World in 80 Days.”
3. “E.T.” (1983) — Even Steven Spielberg at his best could not outshine the legacy of “Gandhi.”
5. “Broadcast News” (1987) – James Brooks best work lost to “The Last Emperor” in a year where the competition also included “Moonstruck” and “Fatal Attraction.”
