Upcoming concert news: John Prine, George Jones, John Mayer, Chickenfoot, Counting Crows and more

Tickets are on sale this week for several spring concerts, including performances by Dave Matthews Band, Los Lobos and more.

The Bushnell in Hartford welcomes John Prine with special guest Josh Ritter on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $59.50 and $45, go on sale through Ticketmaster online or by phone at (800) 745-3000. on Friday.

George Jones is coming to the Calvin Theatre in Northampton on July 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets, priced at $59.50, $49.50, and $39.50, g on sale on Friday through iheg.com or by calling (413) 586-8686.

Counting Crows will play the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on April 27. Tickets are $85 and $55 and on sale now through foxwoods.com and by calling (866) 646-0609. The band is touring in support of its first independent release “Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation).”

John Mayer headlines the Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT on April 22. Tickets are on sale Friday, March 3 through livenation.com

Tickets for the Dave Matthews Band shows in Hartford (Comcast Theater, May 25 and 26) and Mansfield, MA (June 5 and 6) go on sale March 9 at 10 a.m. through all Ticketmaster outlets and locations including ticketmaster Tickets are $75 and $40.50 at both venues.

Chickenfoot, the super group that features local hero Kenny Aronoff on drums along with guitarist Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, and Michael Anthony, comes to Mohegan Sun on May 19. Tickets are $25 and go on sale through Ticketmaster on Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m.

Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Ted Nugent are touring together this summer on the Midwest Rock’ n’ Roll Express tour. The event comes to Mohegan Sun Arena on July 5 with tickets going on sale through Ticketmaster on March 30.

Comedian George Lopez brings his “That’s the America I Live In” tour to Mohegan Sun on May 4. Tickets are $41 and on sale now through Ticketmaster.

Sha Na Na plays Infinity Hall in Norwalk, CT, on July 1 with tickets going on sale Thursday, March 1 through infinityhall.com. Tickets are priced at $70 and $50.

Ray Mason performs solo at the Blackmoon Lounge on Thursday, March 1 and follows that up with a show at Whiskerz Pub in Easthampton on Saturday, March 3. The Saturday performance is with his band The Lonesome Brothers.

Los Lobos performed at the opening weekend celebration of MASS MoCA back in 1999 and the veteran group returns on April 5 to play MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center. Tickets are $29 in advance and can be purchased online at massmoca.org or by calling (413) 662-2111

The New England Doo Wop Society will hold its 25th anniversary show on March 31 with Joe Canata & The Memories, the Dream Tones, Echoes of Time, and Randy & The Rainbows. At that performance the society will unveil its “Ring of Honor” ballot, allowing fans to vote for their favorite performers. The show will be held at the Holiday Inn in Enfield, CT.

New Jersey-bred artist John Eddie has found a second home here in Western Mass thanks to legendary shows at CityBlock, Theodores’, and the Iron Horse Music Hall. He returns to the Iron Horse this weekend for a show on Saturday. Tickets are $17.50 in advance and available by calling (413) 586-8686.


Local bands will gather on Saturday, March 3 for a concert to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) at the Polish Amercain Citizens Club in Ludlow. Artists include The Rick Guzzo Band, The Kings, The Bullriders, Timberlake, Livio Singer, El Sie, and the E.L. Acoustic All-Stars. The show begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20.
