Poet/hip-hop artist named Mike "Details" Detelj will be performing in Plainfield, Conn.
I mostly stick to very local Pioneer Valley information for this column, but once in a while I like to mention an event slightly outside those limits and this week is one of those times. After all, we do live in an age of highways and automobiles.
A while back, I became acquainted with a young poet/hip-hop artist named Mike "Details" Detelj. While he is definitely not mainstream and sure to shock (and maybe even offend) some sensibilities, he clearly is a talented guy.
He will be performing on March 3 with a bunch of other acts during a show titled "Beeps and Beats" in Plainfield, Conn., which is being produced by the Neighborhood Watch Collective. The gig will be at recently relocated Zen Bar, which is just five miles down the road from it's former location in Farmington
Along with Detelj, who performs under the name Details, the night will include an eclectic mix of acts, including Mandrake Mechanism, Vito G & Bang Lee, Torrential & DJ Slav, Era Redux, and Tic Tax.
Zen Bar is at 137 Farmington Ave.
SCOUTING REPORT
--As promised a few weeks ago, here is the skinny (which, I guess, is an odd choice of slang for this subject) on the "Bacon Happy Hour" at Moriarty's Pub and Grill in Springfield: You get a complimentary serving of bacon with every beverage and there are also bacon Bloody Marys and Bacon Martinis. This bacon bacchanalia takes place every Thursday between 4-8 p.m. Moriarty's Pub is at 755 Liberty St.
--In some sad news for nightlife (and eating) in Northampton, Karma will be relocating to the Hampton Inn Village Shops in Hadley (formerly known as the Hadley Village Barn Shops) in late spring. It's unclear whether the venue will continue the great alternative type entertainment it offered in its upstairs loft, The Green Room, at the new location. I will check into this and dill you in once I know, but since the venue's FaceBook notice about the relocation stated, "Relocating to a smaller more intimate space will allow us to return to our original vision of Karma," it seems that The Green Room may not be part of the new plan. Stay tuned. (Karma closed its doors in Northampton last Saturday, so if you missed it, you missed it.)
--If you want to go to Maximum Capacity in style some night, the club has a deal worked out with Deluxe Limousine Service of Agawam.
