I'm expecting that I will be inundated with St. Patrick's Day listings in the next week, so I'm getting a head start by writing about one huge one today, to make sure I don't run out of space.

I received a note last week from Patrick Brennan of Brennan's Place, 173 High St. in Holyoke. As usual, Brennan's has the whole St. Patrick's weekend covered with all sorts of fun. Not only that, the bar is located on the parade route and the road race route.

The festivities start on March 15, when the venue hopes to set a world record for largest Bud Light Green Bottle Toast. The following day, John Morgans Famous Happy Hour Show will play, followed by The E Street Shuffle from New Jersey (a tribute to the Bruce Springsteen) both outside under the tent.

March 17 of course is the Holyoke St. Patrick's Road Race and Brennan's claims the title of "The Unofficial Finish Line" for the race. Music that day will be by Steve Flynn and Union Jack, outside under tent, with then Blackthorn Band inside at 9 p.m. Patrons will need a ticket to get into the bar after 8 p.m.

Finally, on March 18 (Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade day) the Blackthorn Band will perform again and you will also need a ticket to to get inside the bar, but the outside area will be open.

SCOUTING REPORT

Since March came in like a lion, it's fitting that the latest "King of Northampton" event is titled "King of the Jungle." King of Northampton is a once-in-awhile party thaybis described by its promoter Michael Kusek as "providing fine dancing for gents who like other gents Fabulous friends always welcome." This event will take place, as usual, at Bishop's Lounge on March 9 at 9 p.m. DJ DrewG from Los Angeles, who was recently selected by Beyonce to remix her song "Love on Top," returns to spin tunes for the show. The cover is $5 and you must be 21 to attend.

Moriarty's Pub in Springfield now serves them in your choice of red or white sauce on Thursdays and Fridays "while they last." Moriarty's is at 755 Liberty St.

Speaking of mussels, The Sierra Grille in Northampton has upped the ante for after-clubbing food: the venue os now serving mussels until midnight, along the rest of its late-night menu. Sierra Grille is at 41 Strong Ave.

And speaking of 41 Strong Ave., the Longview Gunslingers will bring their superb musical talents to Bishop's Lounge on March 23 at 10 p.m. Bishop's Lounge (which is above The Sierra Grille).

Rusty Belle will play the Montague Bookmill on March 10. The Bookmill (and Lady Killegrew Cafe, which furnishes drinks to the Bookmill) is at 404 Greenfield Road.
