NBC's "Today" retained its grip on morning television, according to ratings reports for Monday and Tuesday's broadcasts.
NBC's “Today” handily defeated "Good Morning America" in the ratings, despite the presence of Katie Couric on the rival ABC show.
"Today" with former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on board edged out "GMA" and Katie Couric by about 330,000 viewers.
On Monday, “Today” averaged 4.9 million viewers, while “GMA” attracted just under half a million fewer viewers, according to The Washington Post.
Two weeks ago, the ABC show was only 137,000 viewers behind "Today" (an average of 4.98 million to 4.84 million), the closest the two shows have been since 2008.
The two morning shows’ season-to-date gap is 528,000 viewers.
