The Holyoke club kicks off its annual music series on May 11.
While summer may still be 10 weeks away, the Summit View Summer Concert Series will get a jump on the season of heat six weeks early as it kicks off on May 11.
Although the venue’s concert series basically runs year-round now, the summer series was the first and remains probably the best, as it’s held outdoors at the Summit View’s pavilion. This year’s summer lineup features both old favorites and some new acts.
The summer circuit launches on May 11 with longtime local legends Bear Mountain, who always bring some of the best southern rock you’ll hear north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The following week, Moose & the High Tops bring hits from the 1970s through today to the Summit View stage.
On May 25, the ultimate 1980s dance party band, Orange Crush, will return to the venue.
Fans of oldies will not want to miss a special Saturday night version of the series, as The Memories play the best of music from the 1950s and ’60s. The horn-powered Brass Attack blasts its brand of hits on June 1. Going forward through June, the schedule is as follows: June 8, Union Jack; June 15, Floyd Patterson; June 22, Lindsey Labelle Band & Out of the Blue; and June 29, Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze.
For a complete schedule, visit http://www.summitviewbanquethouse.com/summerconcerts.html All shows are on Friday nights except where noted. There is no cover charge for the music, and there is a barbecue buffet and cash bar. All drinks and food must be purchased on the premises. Food begins at 5:30 p.m. and music at 6:30 p.m. Concerts are held rain or shine. The Summit View is at 555 Northampton St. in Holyoke.
