Jennifer Lawrence will play Jeanette Walls in a new film adaptation of 'The Glass Castle: A Memoir'
Jennifer Lawrence has signed up to play Jeanette Walls in a new film adaptation of the popular book ‘The Glass Castle: A Memoir.’
The book spent a record breaking 261 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List back in 2005 and now Lionsgate plans to make it a movie from it. The book revolves around Walls’ life growing up as a nomadic child with "dysfunctional but vibrant" parents.
Jennifer Lawrence, who is extremely popular due to the success of ‘The Hunger Games,’ will star as a young Jeanette Walls, the author of the popular memoir, in-between her many other projects. She plans to continue work on ‘The Hunger Games’ series with ‘Catching Fire’ and ‘Mockingjay.’ Until then she is working on ‘The House at the End of the Street’ and ‘The Silver Linings Playbook.’
This is a new direction for Lionsgate, which typically features strong male leads. Maybe they decided to broaden their approach after seeing ‘The Hunger Games’ success.
Erik Feig, Lionsgate's production president, acquired the rights to ‘The Glass Castle: A Memoir.’ Gil Netter, who produced ‘The Blindside’ will produce and Marti Noxon, who wrote for ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Mad Men’ will write the script. They have yet to put a director on this project.
