MARBLEHEAD — The producer of a new Adam Sandler movie says he won't be filming in Marblehead after all.

"Grown Ups 2" producer Barry Bernardi told the School Committee on Thursday he's withdrawing his request to use the high school football field as a filming site because too many people object.

The town would have received $125,000, but the movie makers needed to dig up the field to install a pool.

That drew protests from football players, parents and coaches worried the field wouldn't be restored in time for the season.

Others thought it would be disrespectful to dig up a field named after local Green Beret who died in 2005 of injuries suffered in Afghanistan.

The Daily Item reports that Bernardi says his intent was always to respect the community.
