The Gill Tavern in Gill recently introduced a brunch menu, and the restaurant now opens for brunch on Sundays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The a la carte bill of fare offers some interesting wrinkles that transcend the typical "eggs-and" options.

Breakfast-style selections include baked apple buttermilk pancakes and eggs "benedicto," a dish in which fried polenta squares and crispy prosciutto stand in for the English muffin and Canadian bacon that are staples of the eggs benedict tradition.

A fried egg garnish transforms the Tavern's pizzas into breakfast pies; gluten free crusts are available.

Those looking for lunch fare have choices such as a grilled butternut squash sandwich and braised short rib tacos.
The Gill Tavern, which is located on Main Road, answers at (413) 863-9006.

Chandler's Restaurant at the Yankee Candle Flagship in South Deerfield will once again be holding a "High Tea" on Saturday.

Scheduled for 4 p.m., the tea will feature beverages, tea sandwiches, and miniature desserts, all served against a background of live harp music. Tickets are $20.

A Fancy Nancy Luncheon is also planned at Chandler's Jan. 19. A mother/daughter "girls' afternoon out," the get-together provides participants a chance to dress in their "fancy" best, enjoy lunch complete with fancy cupcakes for dessert, and listen to a reading of the popular children's book "Fancy Nancy."

The Luncheon is scheduled for 11 a.m.; reservations for both events can be made by calling (413) 665-1277.

The kick-off night of this series, planned for Jan. 15, will feature "I Love Lucy." Chef Alberg is putting together a $10 TV Dinner special inspired by what he calls "TV tray cuisine."
