Rapper Lil Wayne is either near death or watching TV with friends – depending on who is doing the talking.

Celebrity website TMZ maintains the 30-year-old rapper is in the intensive care unit of Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles in critical condition. His mother in en route and all major decisions about Wayne's health – including the decision to discontinue life support – will not be made until her arrival, according to TMZ.

However, Lil Wayne – or someone with access to his Twitter account – has tweeted " "I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love."

Rapper Mack Maine tweeted on Friday: "Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game...thanks for the prayers and concern. he will update you all soon."

Lil Wayne's camp has not responded to request for comments from the media.

He was reportedly shooting a music video for Nicki Minaj's new single, "High School" when he suffered a seizure.

The rapper has had a history of seizures. Two instances became public in October when he took ill during a flight and required hospitalization.

In an interview with MTV a month later, he said doctors had put him on seizure medication and told him to drink four bottles of water a day. "I ain't drinking four water bottles, but everything's good," he told MTV.

The four-time Grammy winner has his 10th album set for release on March 26.
