St. Patrick's Parade underway in Holyoke.
HOLYOKE— The 62nd Annual St. Patrick's Parade is now underway with more than 15,000 marchers and hundreds of thousands of sepctators.
"We are here every year. We started bringing our children years ago and now we bring our grandchildren," said Jim Millett, of West Springfield. He and his wife Sue Ballard set up camp the night before.
"He comes out and picks a spot right at the start of the parade and we set everything up the morning of the parade,"she said.
The couple had a cozy spot near the Kmart Plaza complete with a swing and a trailer.
Long-time organizer of the parade Ray Feyre said the weather is dry and sunny and after taking a ride through the parade route this morning he is happy with the crowd.
"It's a little windy, but people are lined up all along the route for this family friendly event," he said.
The parade includes 40 floats this year as well as dozens of high school and professional bands and more.
"We have a wonderful line up and I'm sure people will be thrilled with the parade this year," he said.
The Chicopee Falls Moose Family Center created an elaborate float featuring a train complete with spinning wheels, a bell and smoke.
"It took us about two months to create it," said Paul Aube, of Chicopee. The flloat will be carrying Boy Scout Pack 1849.
"This is really about the kids, so they will be on the float," Aube said.
The parade, which lasts about two hours kicked off from the Kmart Plaza and makes its way through the city.
