Summer means fun seasonal attractions...here are 5 Great ones!
1. Quinnetukut II – Northfield, MA. Here’s a lovely way to spend a summer day. Board this 44-seat riverboat and cruise the Connecticut River along a 12-mile round trip through the scenic French King Gorge and on to Barton Cove – home to nesting bald eagles and the site of a former dinosaur quarry. Each cruise features an on-board narrator who offers information on the culture, habitats, and natural history of that spectacular stretch of river.
2. Lupa Zoo – Ludlow, MA. What a collection of unique and friendly faces you’ll encounter at the Lupa Zoo! Among their residents are giraffes, zebras, monkeys, miniature horses, buffalo, bears, servel cats, panthers and exotic birds. They’ve also got a botanical garden to provide a lovely setting. If you could talk to the animals, this would be the place to be!
3. Look Memorial Park – Florence, MA. There’s so much to do in Look Park, you can spend countless hours having fun. They’ve got pavilions, playgrounds, picnic sites, pedal boats, mini golf, a steamer railroad, the Christenson zoo, the Look Park Grill, bumper boats, a water spray park, a walking path and tennis, among other things. It’s like 2 or 3 attractions rolled up into one!
4. Six Flags New England – Agawam, MA. As if having more than 10 coasters isn’t awesome enough, Six Flags New England adds Bonzai Pipelines to the roster this year! Feel brave enough to climb six stories high and then drop down 257 feet in one of six drop hatch looping enclosed body slides and shoot out in a mere 6 inches of water in the runout? OK, if that’s too much for you, enjoy a calmer corner of Hurricane Harbor or head for a smoother ride. Either way, you’ve got to experience New England’s largest theme park this summer!
5. Jiminy Peak – Hanock, MA. It’s not just for skiing anymore! Jiminy’s hopping in the summertime with a ton of rides and attractions including the Aerial Adventure Park, the Mountain Coaster, the Alpine Super Slide, the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride, the Giant Swing, Scenic Chairlift Rides, a Rock Climbing Wall, the Euro Bungy Trampoline, a Bounce House, Spider Web and a Kid Climb. If you like to go at your own pace, there’s always hiking and mountain biking trails too.
