'Dancing With the Stars' week 6 recap: Katherine Jenkins hits the high note again

The Welsh mezzo-soprano earned a 39 out of a possible 40 from judges.

Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins earned the best score on week 6 of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" on Monday night.

Out of a possible 30 points, judges awarded points for each routine. Up to 10 additional points were awarded for contestants'  performance in a "Motown Marathon" at the close of the night.

The stunning Jenkins earned an equally  stunning 39 from judges.

Gladys Knight ended up last on the roster with 24 points.

Top Motown stars, including Smokey Robinson and The Temptations, provided the music for competition,.

Viewer votes will be combined with judges scores to determine who will be eliminated Tuesday night.

Here is a brief summary of what went down on Monday night:

Gladys Knight: Dancing a rumba to The Temptations' "My Girl," the Motown star warmed the hearts of judges, though they were critical of some parts of her performance. Judges' score: 21. Bonus points: 3. Total: 24

Maria Menounos:The Extra reporter lost her footing during an otherwise stellar foxtrot set to "Jimmy Mack" by Martha and the Vandellas. Judges' score: 26. Bonus points: 4. Total:  30

Roshon Fegan: The Disney star danced the rumba as Smokey Robinson sang "Cruisin'." The unforgettable pairing thrilled the studio  audience, though judges Carrie Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli found fault in the performance. Judges' score: 23. Bonus points: 5. Total: 28

Katherine Jenkins: The Welsh mezzo-soprano danced a high octane  samba to The Temptations' "I Can't Get Next to You." Goodman dubbed the Jenkins "the midwife" because she delivers week after week on "DWTS." Judges' score: 29. Bonus points: 10. Total: 39

Donald Driver:  A superb foxtrot set to "The Way You Do the Things You Do" from Green Bay Packer's wide receiver Driver was "in the zone,' according to Inaba. Goodman described it as explosive. Judges' score: 27. Bonus points: 7. Total:  34

Melissa Gilbert: A Viennese waltz set to "Baby Baby" earned the "Little House on the Prairie" star praise from judges, who have found fault with her work in the past. Judges' score: 24. Bonus points: 6. Total: 30

Jaleel White: The "Family Matters" co-star danced a crowd pleasing, well-executed cha-cha to The Temptations'  "Ain't Too Proud to beg." Tonioli called it "the sizzler of the season," while Inaba and Goodman described it as a comeback after weeks of less-than-impressive routines.  Judges' scores: 29.  Bonus points: 8. Total: 37

William Levy: A sexy rumba from the Telenova actor was hailed by Inaba and Tonioli, while Goodman criticized for being raunchy. Judges' scores: 27.  Bonus points: 9. Total: 36

The Elite Eight took to the floor following the elimination in recent weeks of tennis great Martina Navratilova, "Melrose Place" actor Jack Wagner, "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd and singer Gavin DeGraw.
